Career: 

1818-22 portrait painter in Freiburg, Konstanz, Zurich

1820 – first commission for altar paintings (Ichenheim bei Offenburg)

1822 – meets Friedrich Overbeck, associates with Nazarenes

1827 – wins gold medal at Badischen Kunstverein (Baden Art Association)

1828 – appointed Court Painter in Baden

1832 – joins Baden Kunstverein (art association)
